Boys U9 Soccer
The U9 Boys soccer season came to a close this week. The boys have trained weekly in autumn and spring and played games at Oberdiessbach and in tournaments at ISBerne, in Geneva and at ISZL.
On Tuesday 5 June the boys played in a tournament at ISZL and earned a very hard fought 3rd place, only losing to the two eventual finalists. After a disappointing semi-final loss, the boys bounced back in fine style and secured a 4-1 win to claim 3rd place.
The improvement in skill, technique and team play was evident in their performances and shows that the effort they have put into training has paid off.
All of the boys have shown big improvements and they should be very proud of their efforts. A big thank you also to Mike Arskiy who has helped out with training.
Well done to Nevo, Dom, Lionel, Quintijn, David, Daniel, Wiktor, Mostafa, Luca, Ali and Victor for a good season of soccer.
SGIS Category E Football Tournament
On Wednesday 30th May two boys teams and a girls team represented the school in the annual SGIS Football tournament in Wankdorf.
The day was a huge success with all of our teams performing to the best of their abilities.
The girls team finished eighth out of twelve teams and performed admirably and played all their games in the right spirit. Well done girls!!!!
The boys B team ended up finishing third out of eight teams and they should be extremely proud of their efforts. A big thank you must go to Justin (coach) for the work that he put in with the boys. If there was a fair play award they would have got it. Well done boys!!!
The boys A team progressed all the way to the final after defeating ISBasel in the semi-final. Unfortunately, we lost the final 4-1 but the effort that all the boys had put in during the day was fantastic and they should all be very proud of themselves.
I would like to also thank all the parents who supported all the teams on the day. I know that your children loved having you there. Also to the mothers who worked tirelessly providing refreshments for the teams… thank you all so much.
