Thank you very, very much to all the library volunteers who have shelved almost 17,000 books this year!
It has been the library’s busiest year with 16,922 books being loaned.
The biggest lenders are Grades 1 and 2 who devoured 1,790 and 1,723 books respectively.
One Grade 2 student read 120 books this year, whilst a Grade 6 student read 74.
Reading is more popular than ever and with more new and exciting titles in the library and lots more to arrive in August, the library’s aim is to have something good for everyone be they 3 years or 17 years old.
We meet the demands of our programmes and also the demands of some very discerning readers! Our most popular chapter book series was ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ (of course!) but it is reassuring to see other books such as The Vanderbeekers by Karina Yan Glaser and animal stories by Lauren St John also proving very popular this year.
A very special thank you to Cynthia Egan who co-ordinated the library volunteer group this year and we wish her all the very best for her move and we welcome Lyn Allen who will take over in August.
Books may be borrowed over the summer if you are returning to ISBerne and have no overdue/outstanding books.
